Einpackkammer [shipping chamber]
Once perceived as the symbol of Europe’s separation, the city Berlin distinguishes itself increasingly as an international city for encounters. Situated centrally in the heart of the European continent, the federal capital Berlin attracts more than four million visitors from all over the world every year.
In the heart of this significant metropolis the historically significant Postbahnhof is situated centrally near the border between the districts Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg.
The monument-protected building of Postbahnhof encloses a total of about 3,500 square metres of surface, approx. 1400 square metres of it belong to the ground floor, so called "Einpackkammer" and situated at ground level to the street. In former times parcels from both East and West Germany were sorted here and put in bags for the dispatch. In GDR times customs officers controlled the parcels with X-ray machines on " officially unauthorised " things.
The pure, clinkered hall without any equipment guarantees the realisation of individual concepts and inspires by its original atmosphere.
One striking architectural component is the railway substructure made of steel, which lends a very special charm to the “Einpackkammer”.
The „Einpackkammer“ provides excellent scenery for film and fashion events fairs or exhibits, as well as incentives and congresses.
